- Dimensional Stability – Stonecast has the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion of any urethane casting resin currently available. Especially suitable for outside environments, Stonecast parts can be bonded to metal, concrete, wood and gel coats without concern for warping, cracking, or detaching over extreme temperature fluctuations.
- Design Flexibility – Stonecast can be painted, stained, sealed, and drilled. It is ideal for making one piece finished product to replace multi-component parts.
- Manufacturing Quality – Stonecast was specifically engineered to have less than 0.1% in-mold shrinkage. As a result of its low viscosity, molded pieces will reproduce intricate detail exactly and will maintain original features after demold.
- Manufacturing Efficiency – Stonecast can be demolded within 10-20 minutes and will dramatically increase throughput. Consistent repetitive parts can either be hand or machine poured.
- Environmentally Friendly – Unlike most other casting compounds such as polyester resins, Stonecast does not release harmful chemical during or after processing and is made from over 1/3rd-recycled product. This now can qualify your project for LEED points as it can be classified as a recyclable product with zero Volatile Organic Compound emissions.
- Lightweight – Stonecast finished parts have a specific gravity of 0.9 (approximately the weight of most hardwoods) and is therefore lighter than most other casting resins. Strength – Stonecast has medium structural strength and is excellent under high-heat conditions where other casting resins begin to warp.
